This class will give students unique opportunities to explore Korean culture by learning Korean language with K-Pop music and dance. In week 1, students will learn Korean culture, Korean consonant and vowel alphabets through games and group activities. In week 2-3, students will learn basic Korean vocabulary and phrases by doing creative interdisciplinary activities, including music, dance, and art. In week 4-5, students will learn Korean language by singing and dancing to K-Pop Music.

Instructor's teaching approach will consist of constructivist pedagogy to boost students' social and experimental learning.

Skills/ Learning Outcomes:

  • Students will learn the verbal and written Korean language.

  • Students will explore the Korean culture through games.

  • Students will understand the Korean culture through creative interdisciplinary activities including Korean language, music, dance, and art.

  • Students will learn Korean language throughout singing and dancing to the K-Pop Music, including music by BTS and Blackpink.

  • Students will analyze and discuss K-Pop music's trend and its cultural characteristics.
  • Students will learn multiculturalism and diversity through appreciation of Korean language, music, dance, and culture.
